20031204 After graduating Yeshiva College in N.Y.C. in 1971, I emigrated to the State of Israel as a student. Over the years I received rabbinic ordination, served in the Israel Defense Forces’ Army Reserve in the Chaplaincy, and have a PhD in Jewish History. During the year I teach at the Institute for Advanced Torah Studies at Bar-Ilan University, Ramat-Gan, Israel, and during the summers at the Greenberg Center for Judaic Studies at the University of Hartford, giving me the opportunity to see my folks and old friends. My academic interests are Medieval Rabbinic Literature (specializing in Maimonidies and Rashi), Medieval Jewish History (specializing in the Jews of southern France), and the writings of the late Rabbi Dr. J. B. Soloveitchik (of which I have just published a book).

I have been married to my Israeli wife Rachel since 1973 and we have 5 daughters (the youngest is 18) and three granddaughters (the oldest is 8)
